Malpractice

MALPRACTICE
REDMAN
Def Jam/Universal
Ranking 8.5/10

There's nothing better than a Redman album to keep the funk a flowing, the laughter a roaring and the beats a bumping! Redman's latest album, Malpractice stays true to the formula that's hard to match.

There are three things that really impressed me with this album:
1. It's common knowledge that Redman's skits are the best out there. This album's skits once again keep your ears locked down. "Jerry Swinger Stickup" and "Judge Juniqua" are hilarious take-offs of, you guessed it, Jerry Springer and Judge Judy. Soopaman Luva is back and this time he's lost his mojo to a white guy. All the skits are Redman-quality and will keep you listening.
2. There were more featured artists than normal, including Missy Elliott, Scarface, Method Man, Keith Murray, George Clinton, Saukrates, D-Don, Treach, DJ Kool, and many others. But I've never heard so many featured artists be so on point. The featured artists on "Real Niggaz", "Enjoy Da Ride" and "Bricks Two" are off tha hook. Their verses are some of the tighest I've ever heard from featured artists, with lines like "... my gun smoke got cancer, it smoke too much..."
3. The beats are hot, funky and bumping. There's no denying this after taking a listen to "Real Niggaz", "Let's Get Dirty", "Dat Bitch", and "Doggz II". All of which are simply amazing.

The only thing working against Redman, is his lyrical mentality. At times, the funk doc struggles to present lyrics that do much more than rhyme. But at least they tend to be funny.

I really enjoyed Malpractice. If you're looking for funny skits, very funky bouncy beats, and some hot featured artists, then this album is a must get. It's definitely better than his last album, Doc's Da Name. Just be warned that sometimes Redman ain't gonna provide lyrics to stimulate your mind, but with so many tight featured verses, you might not notice. This album worth checking out!
