THE N.W.A. LEGACY - Volume 1 (1988-1998)
NWA & VARIOUS ARTISTS
Priority/Virgin Records
Ranking 10/10

What a treat! This album is the best gangsta rap compilation ever! As well, it vouches to be the best rap compilation album of the year. NWA paved the road for the rap game. The fivesome of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella formed a coalition that was to forever change the face of hip hop. NWA's 'Straight Outta Compton' was the first album to go platinum with no radio airplay. Quite an amazing feat! So, to mark the 10th anniversary of NWA's landmark album, it would only seem fitting that their legacy be captured on CD. 'The NWA Legacy - Volume 1' is a double album, featuring hits from NWA, the artists that make up NWA, and other affiliated artists, including Snoop Dogg, Mack 10, Westside Connection, 2Pac, Daz, Above the Law and Da Lench Mob. The two albums are filled with the deep bass beats, the westside gangsta style flowing with the old skool and new skool feel. Several songs are funked up and tinge with jazz.

These albums feature a ton of hits including: "Straight Outta Compton" by NWA, "California Love" by 2Pac featuring Dre, "Natural Born Killaz" by Dr. Dre & Ice Cube, "Bow Down" by Westside Connection, "Only In California" by Mack 10 feat Ice Cube and Snoop, the best Westside Connection song, "The Gangsta, the Killa And The Dope Dealer", "Steady Mobbin" by Ice Cube, "Nothin' But The Cavi Hit" by Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound, "Keep Their Heads Ringin" by Dr. Dre, and more... It also features remixes of the hits, "It Was A Good Day" by Ice Cube, which is even better than the original and "Murder Was The Case" by Snoop Dogg.

If you don't have this album yet, then you should go buy it now. It's amazing. The only downfall is that the sound quality of the songs could have been optimized a bit more with emphasis on higher quality deeper bass. Nonetheless, this album is just blazing. With so many big hits on a double album collection, your collection cannot be complete without this double album!
